ScarWork: Integrating Scars into the Fascial Web
with Dario di Lorenzo
Workshop 16 - 18 April 2027 Lisbon, Portugal
Discover a gentle and profound approach to working with scars and fascia.
Scars tell a story. Whether resulting from surgery, injury, burns or other forms of trauma, they can influence not only the appearance of the skin but also the mobility, comfort and organisation of the body's fascial network.
In this workshop, Dario Di Lorenzo introduces ScarWork, developed by Sharon Wheeler—a refined, hands-on approach that supports the integration of scar tissue through precise, respectful touch.
Rather than forcing change, ScarWork listens to the tissue, encouraging greater mobility, sensitivity, comfort and connection with the surrounding fascia. The work can be applied to both recent and long-established scars, always respecting the individual, the history of the scar and the readiness of the tissue.
What is ScarWork?
ScarWork is a specialised manual therapy developed by Sharon Wheeler that works directly with surgical and traumatic scars.
Using gentle, specific and highly skilled touch, the practitioner supports the scar in becoming more integrated within the body's connective tissue system. As restrictions soften, many people experience improvements in movement, comfort, body awareness and the quality of the tissue surrounding the scar.
This approach is suitable for many different types of scars, including surgical procedures, accidents, burns and other tissue injuries.

Meet the Teacher
Dario Di Lorenzo is a Structural Integration practitioner based in Milan. He first encountered Structural Integration in 1996 and has been practicing since 2011. His work is rooted in the holistic view of the body as an adaptable, intelligent system, where touch, movement awareness and precise listening can support lasting change. His professional path combines bodywork, teaching and many years of experience in complex international environments. This gives his teaching a grounded and practical quality: clear structure, attention to detail, and a strong focus on helping practitioners develop confidence in their hands and in their clinical reasoning. He has also contributed twice in Ukraine at a rehabilitation centre for veterans, supporting practitioner training around complex war injuries such as amputations, spinal injuries, phantom limb pain and trauma-related tissue changes. This experience informs his sensitivity to complexity, safety and the human dimension of ScarWork.
